Company Services
We know how important it is to live in a safe and beautiful
home. We thoroughly inspect your home for structural damage, and then provide you with a report on our findings and recommendations.
We also can treat your home for the wood-destroying organisms, repair any damage, and help you implement preventative maintenance
measures to reduce reinfestation or reinfection of your property.
Inspection Prior to any
action a thorough inspection should be made of the structure. Proper identification of infestations and conditions must be
made before a sensible recommendation can be made.
What we look for: Insect infestation can result in
structural damage. Termites and other insects eat wood for food and can, with time, weaken wooden framings and other structural supports.
Moisture-related conditions in buildings promote fungus decay. Leaking
plumbing fixtures, failing roofs, leaking masonry porches, and moisture behind stucco walls are typical causes of fungus infection.
However, there are a variety of other moisture sources which could promote decay in a home.
Report An inspection report
will be created to provide our observations on the condition of your home. Some of what we find may be purely informational
and not require any actions. Other findings may indicate areas requiring maintenance. The report also will indicate recommended
actions to be taken to treat, repair, and prevent damage to your property.
Treatment Treatment
for structural damage focuses on two main culprits: wood-destroying insects and fungus.
Insecticides are used to control structural pest activity within structures. The
product used will vary based on insect and area of infestation.
Typical Insects and their Treatment
- Subterranean Termites. Application of a liquid termiticide in the soil around foundations and drilled and pressure treated
below slabs.
- Drywood Termites. Fumigation of structures or injection of a treatment into known colony areas.
- Dampwood Termites. Aside from possible structural repair, the preferred method of extermination is to eliminate the moisture
source.
- Powder Post Beetles. Fumigation of the infested structure and/or broadcast spray of infested wood members with an approved
pesticide.
For More information about termites, see Termite.com.
Wood-destroying Fungi The primary approach to fungus growth is to remove the fungus-infected
wood. However, it is not uncommon to treat fungus-affected wood. There are a variety of fungicides used to help control and
protect against fungus.
Repair Fungus-
and insect-damaged wood should be removed and replaced. Depending on the extent of damage, repairs can be minimal or extensive.
Building techniques vary depending on age of the structure, extent of damage, and the quality of materials. Our structural
repairs are made by professional union carpenters, who have the expertise needed to reconstruct damaged portions of a structure.
